Mary L. Studevant, Richmond, term expires 6/30/2011

Mary Studevant recently joined the Center for Public Policy at Virginia Commonwealth University after more than 30 years with the Department of Defense.
During her federal government career, Ms. Studevant worked at the Defense Supply Center Richmond, where she served as the Deputy Director of the Support Services Directorate, overseeing Strategic Planning/Balance Scorecard, Public Affairs, Quality of Life and Protocol functions for the commander. Prior to that position, she served as the center’s Executive Staff Officer (Chief of Staff) for four flag- level commanders.
A native of Kenbridge, Va., Mrs. Studevant graduated from Lunenburg High School in Victoria, Va., and earned the executive commercial diploma from Smith-Madden Business College.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and management (magna cum laude) from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Richmond.
She worked in the acquisition field for more than 17 years, holding the positions of procurement agent, contract specialist, contracting officer, section chief, training coordinator and instructor of acquisition courses, and finally as the chief of the Plans and Operational Analysis Branch, in the Contracting and Production Directorate.
Mrs. Studevant completed the Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government Program for Senior Executive Fellows in 2000.
She was one of 48 employees throughout the Department of Defense to complete the year-long DoD Executive Leadership Development Program. At the end of the program, she was one of three chosen to brief the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness.
Mrs. Studevant also worked in the guidance department at Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Va. Still an active member of the Richmond/Henrico community, she has served as a lay advisor to the Henrico School Board, as well as several other positions in the school and community.
The recipient of numerous performance and academic awards, Mrs. Studevant also holds a number of professional memberships. They include the The Richmond Rotary; Chesterfield Business Council; Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Federal Executive Association and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
Her academic affiliations include Phi Chapter, Alpha Iota Delta; National Decision Science Honor Society; Sigma Iota Epsilon, Honorary Professional Management Fraternity; and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.
Mrs. Studevant and her husband, Roger, have two children, Kevin and Kecia.
